The Office of Equity and Inclusion recently announced that the Crew Scholars program is expanding! Beginning in Fall 2022, the Crew program will triple in size, growing from one first year cohort of 20–25 students to three cohorts of 20–25 students each.
Drake University continues to invest in its commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. Given its demonstrated success after nearly nine years, we are eager to increase that investment and provide more Drake students access to the thriving community and support system they deserve.
Since 2013, the Crew Scholars program has demonstrated incredible success, decreasing or eliminating longstanding racial disparities in retention rates, grade point averages, and graduation rates between Crew Scholars and non-Crew Drake students.
- Crew boasts a 91% graduation rate, surpassing that of any other group of non-Crew Drake students of any racial/ethnic demographic).
- Drake’s overall recruitment/enrollment of students of color has consistently increased since 2015 (from 14% to 22%), with admission to Crew becoming increasingly competitive.
