Live Mascot Program

Drake’s official live mascot is one of the most beloved members of the University community. Griff II, informally known as George, took over as the second official live mascot in July of 2020, succeeding Griff I upon his retirement. Griff II continues to maintain an incredibly busy schedule year-round, continuing to build upon the solid foundation established by his predecessor!

Griff II greets prospective students and their families, cheers on Bulldog student-athletes from the sidelines, collaborates with organizations in our community to make a positive impact, performs visits as a certified therapy dog, and brightens many days with his social media adventures and commentary. He is truly “everybody’s dog,”—leading with love for everyone he meets.

Griff II made the announcement this winter that this is his final year of service. While still very healthy and happy in his role, he has earned his rest. He will pass the harness on to Griff III in May of 2026, a successor paw-selected by him.

Your support of Drake's Live Mascot Program will extend and expand the spirit and swagger that has continued through generations of Bulldogs who proudly represent Drake’s commitment to community.
